Nature's Harmony collection, And The Cougar Rests by artist Daniel Smith.

Nature's Harmony collection, And The Cougar Rests by artist Daniel Smith.

SKU: p0977

Nature's Harmony collection, And The Cougar Rests by artist Daniel Smith. Third issue in the series. The Bradford Exchange, 1996. Plate size approx. 8.5 by 6.25 inches. Suggested Retail $60.00.

Morning in the mountain forest is peaceful and still. Many creatures of the wild have just awakened from sleep and have yet to begin their daily search for food. The chatter of red squirrels and the trill of a songbird are the only sounds to break the silence.

Lying on a rocky cliff, surveying the misty valley below, is a golden cougar. His powerful body is relaxed but his head is held high and his keen eyes are alert as he gazes at his mate nearby.

The two have spent some days together, but they will soon part. Cougars are solitary creatures and she will leave to find a den, and to bear and raise her cubs. He will go on to roam his territory as before.

It takes a great deal of energy to hunt and capture prey, so cougars, like domestic dogs or cats, rest and sleep much of the time. Cougars, like wolves, do a lot of their hunting by night, so they sleep during
both night and day.

Re-created from a limited-edition print by Daniel Smith, this scene is a one more masterpiece to add to your Nature's Harmony collection. Displayed with your first two plates, and the one to come, it will form a thrilling panorama!

The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460?ø Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
