Enchanted Forest by Donald Zolan 1994
SKU: p1350
Zolan's own story about this miniature lithograph -- Give me half a chance to paint a little girl with flowers and I'll stretch a canvas in no time. I really looked forward to painting "Enchanted Forest" because I stretched the biggest canvas for it I've ever used — six by four feet. I painted Crystal, one of my very favorite little subjects. She's in a sunlit forest that seems to go on forever, just the way an enchanted forest would. The forest is filled with sunlight, big white flowers and enough big green leaves to make it look like the Garden of Eden. There's life and light everywhere. Crystal is touching one flower. I wanted to give the feeling that she's touching a lot of what life is all about — new beginnings, beauty, our belonging to all nature. She's dressed just the way little girls love to dress up, with long sleeves, ruffles on her dress and lace around her neck. I made her hair long and flowing and let soft sunlight fall on her to bring out her softness and femininity. She's touching her flower tenderly and probably wouldn't disturb any bug or little animal she finds. I wanted her gentleness to seem to fill the whole forest, and to me that has its own kind of enchantment. --- This is a framed miniature Lithograph numbered A622 issured for the Zolan Society members only 1994. Colector price $49.95. Size 8.5 by 6.5 inches. Lithograph -- Pemberton & Oakes
